The war in Iraq and the 2006 rape of a 14-year-old Iraqi girl by American troops make for compelling narrative material, but it's lost in choppy editing and less-than-convincing acting. Brian de Palma may have had something deeper he wanted to convey, but what comes out can be summarized in one word: kitsch.
