Review of Red Tails (2012) by Jon T — 01 Jun 2012
It's watchable, but an unsettling incompetence wafts from every corner of the production. Every aspect is vaguely ill advised. The music is just wrong. The pacing is nonexistent. The script is cornball and obvious and episodic.
Every line falls flat on its face. The dialogue is insipid. The drama and characters are largely ineffective. The attempt at a romance is laughable, nothing clicks and there is so little chemistry among the cast it's like watching baking soda and vinegar just sit there.
The acting is atrocious. Cuba Gooding Jr. is awful, I don't know what Terrence Howard is doing with his voice and even Bryan Cranston, who is on screen for all of two minutes, manages to induce a cringe.
