Review of Red Tails (2012) by Brandon S — 22 Jul 2012
2: Too bad. I was hoping this would be better, as was George Lucas apparently. It is entertaining enough, but like much of Lucas's more recent work, something is just off. The dialogue leaves much to be desired and the performances don't exactly bowl one over.
The story is reasonably compelling, but it feels somewhat drained of vitality. What is more, the flying sequences are inferior to those found in Howard Hughes's Hell's Angels released in 1930.
Additionally, little errors like Terrence Howard's character saying "aircrafts" instead of "aircraft" can't help but stick in one's craw. Entertaining, but in a mediocre sense.
