Review of Red Tails (2012) by Mark L — 12 Dec 2012
I know I normally write these things on movies that are currently in the theater, but I felt compelled to write one after watching this feature on HBO.
I could sit here all day and break down how painstakingly cheesy, cliche', and morbid this film is. But if I were a member of the Tuskegee airmen, I would contemplate suicide if I saw this is how my heroism was portrayed.
George Lucas complained and said that the studios executives didn't lend a hand into making this movie. Claiming it was because it had a near 'all black cast'. Correct me if i'm wrong, but isn't this the same George Lucas who has billions of dollars and his own movie studio? Don't bring race into this George. Just like Indiana Jones 4, you picked a shitty script, and have a problem admitting it. I wouldn't be the least bit suprised if this screenplay was written in crayon. Because this thing plays out like a 4th grade Social Studies paper. My rating, 1 out of 5 stars.
