Review of Red Tails (2012) by John T — 06 Jan 2014
I greatly enjoyed the movie, the action, and the characters. Reading the reviews, I just can't seem to remember there being any cheesy dialogue or acting in it. Sure, every movie has certain cliches, but this one didn't have any more than the average movie and certainly not enough of them to warrant any real notice. I'm especially baffled by those who apparently were so disgusted and horrified by the way the characters spoke or acted that they felt like getting up and leaving the theater. Yes, they are stereotypes now, but in the 40s some Blacks(especially those from the South) actually did speak like this. Dumbo may have been over the top and demeaning, but there's no shame in these actors portraying the Tuskegee Airmen as they actually were. Where is the outcry from people complaining about the poor grammar of the characters in the Hatfields and McCoys?
Fun and inspiring movie!
