Review of Red State (2011) by Usman S — 03 Oct 2014
This is supposedly Smith's take on horror, but it is more of a thriller that sets out to make religion look bad - a theme Smith has used before. Ostensibly about 3 high school guys looking for sex, it is really about a religious zealot and his (inbred?) family who murder sinners on the alter of the church on their property.
The characters get short shrift, however John Goodman is wonderful as the lead ATF agent.
