Review of Red State (2011) by Matt W — 27 Dec 2011
I applaud Kevin Smith for setting his sights on the (make no mistake) Westboro Baptist Church, but the film fails to generate any fear or scares for the viewer. It failed to make me care about characters I should be sympathetic for, and when things should have gotten creepier/darker in the middle, it all turned into a massive shoot-out until the end.
Lame sauce. This was like a practic run for Smith to make a better Horror movie. I hope he learned a thing or two. This joins "Jersey Girl" at the bottom of Kevin Smiths work.
