The villains in Kevin Smith's "Red State" are obviously a fictionalized version of Fred Phelp's Westboro Baptist Church. Making a movie demonizing those that are already demonized is hardly groundbreaking.
A good movie can take an issue, such as the death penalty or abortion, and give the audience something to speak about, maybe provide a new slant if possible. This is intellectual laziness on Smith's part.
