Review of Red State (2011) by Jay B — 08 Jan 2012
Knowing it wasn't a 'horror' film as first advertised when news came out about this, I went in not expecting anything, what I got was an okay film, with none of the usual jokes from Smith (it's not a comedy!) but an okay film about religious nuts, taking the scriptures literally.
It's actually interesting how Kevin Smith sees religion, as the tosh that Michael Parks' character spouts actually makes sense, in the same way that DOGMA makes sense.
John Goodman is pretty good in this, but ultimately you end up wanting more from the film.
Okay for a different KS film, and a marked improvement on COP OUT.
