Review of Red State (2011) by Rufio S — 21 Jan 2012
Kevin Smith reinvents himself certainly in style plot and pace, but certainly some themes have run in other of his films, Dogma in terms of religion, and this is a pretty slick film, it hits a lot of beats, and a 85 minute running time well handled and never outstays its welcome.
Smith has said, this is his second from last film as director, a Hockey film being his last at some point, im guessing that may well go back to similer themes of the view askew universe, but goiunmg by this, its a shame as this film shows he can most definatly move away from his comfort zone of Jay and Bob, and that universe and create a well crafted film, with depth and exitment.
