Review of Red State (2011) by Mark T — 22 Mar 2012
There is a lot of talk about how it's goal was to push boundaries and be controversial. Some say yes, others no. Was it the final feeling you were left with? No, but I found it to be provocative and unsettling for much of the ride.
As far as the ending goes, I think it was good. Further, it had contrast. The ending to this film said just as much about the self-righteous nuts from Cooper's Dell as the willingness of the government to "win" at all costs.
They shot first, shot last, and showed their true colors. This film, at the end of the day, gave us something to take away about ourselves and our government.
