Review of Red State (2011) by Jason H — 12 Jul 2012
Much more serious than any of Smith's other film ventures --where did he go wrong? Mostly the third act. *SPOILER ALERT* The ending finishes with the a blaring trumpet that gets answered through dialogue much like an after-thought --Smith should have of "shown" us that scene instead he opts to have the characters tell the audience that it's a prank by neighboring college kids --lame.
AND the head-butt that supposedly dropped the antagonist was also just mentioned --lame. Then the film ends with the antagonist standing in his jail-cell singing, by this time you could care less. Grade: F.
