Review of Red State (2011) by Brandon C — 30 Jun 2013
Very cool movie that I liked way more than I thought I would. It feels like Kevin Smith is trying to critique alot of things in our society in this movie, religious extremists, goverment agencies, and teenagers seem to be points of contention for Smith.
John Goodman is very good in this movie, but Michael Parks is the real star of this movie, he is awesome as the cult leader and the movie is worth watching just for him alone. A strange movie, and even more so because it is a Kevin Smith movie, but the only way you can tell he made it by watching the movie is the long character monologues that pop up a couple of times.
