Review of Red Sparrow (2018) by Nick C — 01 Mar 2018
To be honest, this film wasn't half bad...The actors did a really good job if you can look past the horrible Russian accents. I enjoyed the directors style, and complimented the theme of the film quite nicely.
Lots of big shots and closeups, to give it that cinematic feel.the lighting was nice as well. Jennifer Lawrence looked really fit for this role..wowzers she is gorgeous. I did like the initial pace of the film, kind of just let out of the gate swinging from the first scene.
.However the films pace slowed down towards the middle part, and the film scene a little slow and drawn out, that's really my only negative critique, is that red sparrow is a little over 2 hours, but it felt like 3 hours.
..I wish they would have cut out a few scenes for timing...I can see why some fans of Jennifers other films are a little disappointed with this one, however it still delivered. The story is cool, very communist aesthetics mixed with some classic CIA psy-ops.
.Not very often you see some Manchurian candidate type drama on the big screen.. Its somewhat refreshing if you look for the psychological dramas...Would I watch this film again? Maybe once on date night over some Netflix and chill.
..I recommend this movie if you want to have a good time with your lady...;).
