Review of Red Sparrow (2018) by Michael D — 03 Mar 2018
I liked the film and I didn't like the film. I really wanted a better written script and something that surprised me rather than the predictable scenes the director lead us by the hand to figure out.
Lawrence's flash of breast was unnecessary and she didn't convey a strength I would have expected from a Russian spy. Edgerton's role was flat and undeveloped and I didn't get the chemistry that you'd expect to develop between lead actors who are conflicted yet in love.
I thought he was mis-cast in this film. Overall, it wasn't a waste of money, but it's still two hours and 20 minutes I'll never get back.
