Review of Red Sparrow (2018) by Jax R — 23 Apr 2018
Loved the storyline, but unfortunately it just got uncomfortable to watch. I think it got lost somewhere along the way as to what type of genre it wanted to be. Was it a film about espionage, debauchery a thriller?! The fake Russian accents didn't help and as someone else mentioned - if they were Russian, in Russia, they would have spoken to one another in Russian. I've have trouble separating Jennifer Lawrence from The Hunger Games.
The part where she was bludgeoned (whilst I get they were using a cloth) would have sustained much more severe injuries. Then the part near the end where she finds the mole is all too easy to come together. It had potential, but was just too messy.
