Review of Red Sparrow (2018) by Mike B — 28 May 2018

The biggest surprise to me is that an actress like Jennifer Lawrence, who probably can pick her movies, would get involved in a movie like this. At times it felt like it was nearly a soft porn movie trying to masquerade as a thriller. There just isn't much plot to be had and the character development is very thin. Ultimately, the movie does try to develop an interesting plot, but the foundation just isn't there to support this. If you want to go see a kickass female spy movie, go see Atomic Blonde. Red Sparrow pales in comparison to it.
