Review of Red Sorghum (1988) by Private U — 16 Aug 2008
Unfortunately, Flixster's database doesn't include Yellow Earth or Judou which are also my favourite films of the 5th Generation of Chinese film makers. Red Sorghum is a powerful and poignant telling of the Japanese invasion of China with a stellar perfomance by Gong Li and supporting actors.
If you like stunning colour cinematography, get into Chen Kaige and Zhang Yi Mou. Mmmmmm.
