Review of Red Road (2006) by Alicia C — 01 Aug 2007
Harrowing, gritty and bleak, this story of loss and revenge is so incredibly claustrophobic and tense that I could hardly breathe. The hand held camera is used to great effect (so shaky that I felt giddy and nearly threw up).
Strong and courageous performances from Kate Dickie and Tony Curran, who both play outwardly brittle characters with deep wells of grief beneath them.
