Review of Red Road (2006) by Tess A — 21 Oct 2007
This is a very intense little film. I found it difficult to engage with at first as I found her character frustrating, but all the time I felt compelled to watch in a strangly voyeuristic way, as the character herself does in the CCTV room.
However, as the film unrolls it hits with an emotional intensity that is hard to take. There is no trite hollywood feel good ending. The characters remain stead fastly real adn believable. For me it was the possibility of this being anyone of us caught in a human tragedy that can leave us dead inside.
Excellent performamces all round sustained through a very intense adn almost painful intimate moment between the two main protagonists. Definitely worth watching.
