Review of Red Road (2006) by Mireya M — 04 Feb 2008
Those who complain about a movie being "slow" have their answer in this film. Everything occurs for a reason, real time scenes play a great role in constructing tension and mystery, as the CCTV operator carefully prepares her plot, we are made her accomplices in her journey to revenge her family's death by seducing their murder, who she accidentally found on the CCTV.
Plot is not what sustains the film, as occurs with traditional thrillers, but the carefully constructed narrative of silence and unexpectedness. My only problem was understanding the Scottish accent, as I am not used to it.
But overall this film is damn good...
