Review of Red River (2011) by Phillip G — 10 Apr 2007
This is the day! What the hell! What a film!
Let me present you Red River, another masterpiece of western directed by Howard Hawks.
Diferent of the others westerns that we're used to see, this one gets deep on the psychologycal consequences of a long trip carryng 10000 pieces of cattle through 1000 miles.
John Wayne in one of the best examples of how his persona can give us a great interpretation.
Montgomery Clift gifting us with another great and dense performance of the adopted "son" of Dunson.
Instead of the natural texan against indian thing we have the habit to watch in far west movies, this one is based on a damn good psychologycal tension thriller that will make your saliva stop in your throat and will make you hear the pounding of your heart inside your ear.
Hawks develops every character very carefully, everything perfectly built. The soundtrack is great, always acting well in the right time, the edition will fool you with the changes of scenes and you will be completely dominated by the beautiful done script and elypses used by Hawks.
Fuck damn hell, what a damn fucking good movie!
