Review of Red River (2011) by Kevin D — 28 Feb 2009
Howard Hawks' classic Western is a morally complex tale depicting a pair of cattle ranchers as they drive their cattle from Texas to Kansas. Although the ending is far too packaged and neat, Red River is nevertheless an engrossing exploration of the righteousness of violence, and one's mastery over their environment, with great performances from John Wayne and Montgomery Clift.
