Some western feel as old as they are. High Noon for example. This one aside from being in black and white, doesn't. Thanks in large part to the acting. This movie just rules. The ending was a bit sappy and unbelievable, but in the 40's, a studio would never let a movie end like, say, Unforgiven, or something where everybody dies and so forth.

So I can't really hold that against it. Also, it has Walter Brennen in it, who was the single coolest actor in western cinema.
