Review of Red Lights (2012) by Jim B — 03 Feb 2013
A decent, interesting thriller with a stellar cast and despite the harsh criticism, I think it was clever with a strong message: You cannot hide or deny WHO you really are. Sigourney Weaver who is one of my favorite actresses plays Dr.
Margaret Matheson an expert in discovering the fakes among faith healers and those that claim to have psychic/supernatural powers. She is the boss of Tom Buckley (Cillian Murphy) who accompanies her in every journey to expose the fraudsters.
So far their record is phenomenal until the legendary and famous Simon Silver (Robert De Niro) comes out of retirement advertising a show that thousands are eager to watch. Determined to expose Silver, Buckley and Dr.
Matheson will use every tool in their arsenal to uncover the truth behind this man. Is he the real deal or simply another fake that has not been caught? You will have to watch the movie but believe me, the ending will surprise you.
Written and Directed by Rodrigo Cortes and he did a mighty fine job on this one. Available on Netflix instant streaming so enjoy!
