Review of Red Hook Summer (2012) by Dc W — 22 Mar 2013
I love Spike Lee films, and that includes this one. Definitely has its flaws, but still a great film. It starts off very loose and feels almost like you're watching a play, which I find other Spike Lee films like as well, especially those in his Brooklyn series.
It all seems to be sailing along harmlessly and then, in typical Spike Lee fashion, the shit hits the fan. As always, some challenging and important themes explored in Spike's unique way. Definitely worth seeing and pondering.
