Review of Red Hill (2010) by Danny S — 28 Jan 2011
"Red Hill" 10 Scale Rating: 6.5 (Solid) ...
A police officer and his pregnant wife move to the tiny Australian town of Red Hill to get away from the hustle and bustle of big city life. On his very first day on the job, a murderer escapes from a nearby jail and heads towards the town. The local law enforcement panics and starts setting up as if a war were starting. The young officer quickly finds out why they were so afraid when the killer gets to town and starts killing the officers one by one. Now, he sets out to find out why ...
A pretty straight forward movie with few twists and turns. It is obvious from the start that the "bad guy" was wronged by the local police and now wants revenge. It was interesting to see Ryan Kwanten in a movie after seeing him for so many seasons on True Blood. He did a good job, but his character was too far removed from the action for the majority of the film. He seemed to just walk in right when something happens often and that struck me as sort of an odd way to tell the story.
Anyway, like I said, it is a solid movie. It wasn't bad at all and kept me interested. It falls just short of great, but is worth seeing.
