Review of Red Hill (2010) by Allan C — 20 Nov 2010
Jason Stackhouse and Goose from "Mad Max" star in this decent Australian crime/western/thriller. It's stylishly directed, but it's a tough call whether the story is a well crafted homage or just horribly cliched.
From the cops-first-day-on-the-job to the hiding-in-the-air-vent scene, I'm making the call that it's horribly cliched. However, it's got some good action and a few okay plot twists, which make it worth watching.
Still, for the feature debut of director Patrick Hughes, only time will tell whether he's a sharp director like George Miller or a talented hack like Russell Mulcahy.
