Review of Red Hill (2010) by Marc M — 12 Oct 2011
Overall a good action/gore-fest flick, with sympathetic characters and good acting. The apparent antagonist seems a bit too comic book--yes, I understand why he's so stoically murderous, but still.
My only real gripe is a very huge plot hole (SPOILER): why didn't the town call for backup? Nobody with a badge would suspect Jimmy's innocence--he'd just be seen as a dangerous murderer on the lam; everyone would assume he returns to Red Hill for revenge against the people who testified against him in court.
End of story, end of Jimmy. Old Bill says himself that there is no evidence of Jimmy's innocence (aside from the written confession, a confession that never would've been created if Bill had simply called in the cavalry), so there's no reason for the locals to take on Jimmy all by themselves.
The perps are not only evil but dumb.
