Review of Red Heat (1988) by Elliott F — 12 Sep 2008
While having some good lines from Arnold, and having him in the lead role is good enough to make the movie good, it doesn't make this movie good, sad to say. Arnold's cop buddy is a fucking idiot, and his lines and attitude, as well as literally every move he makes are about as dumb as can be.
I wished the whole time Arnold would do him Soviet-style, so there would at least be a good righteous rage scene in the movie. Other than Arnold, there's no one who is likable, at all, even his supposed friends and allies on his mission.
The bad guy from the USSR is not very intimidating, and neither are the "professional basketball team" of big black guys with big assault rifles. There's no character development at all.
I'm honestly wondering why Arnold did NOT take his "partner" out, I mean, really.
