Review of Red Eye (2005) by Davey P — 07 Dec 2011
Really, really good.
This film is surprisingly not very well-known, but it should be, as it's enjoyable from start to finish.
Cillian Murphy is great as the bad guy (in pre-Scarecrow days) and the plot is engaging and as believeable as any other well-made thriller.
It was also nice to see a female lead who didn't just run around screaming, breaking a heel and falling over - why isn't Rachel McAdams a bigger star?
I do have to say, though, that anyone seeing Wes Craven's name as the director and expecting anything like Nightmare On Elm Street or Last House On The Left will be disappointed - but, as I didn't realise he had directed it until I saw the credits, I was pleasantly surprised - the man has a future now Freddy's dead!!
