Review of Red Dragon (2002) by Chris V — 28 Dec 2009
While this movie should've been more of an ode to Manhunter, most people thought this to be an original film. WRONG! For the most part, this film is almost a carbon copy of the first movie. While all the roles played in Red Dragon were ably played, Ralph Fiennes proves why he is one of the most brilliantly casted villains in the last 15 years, taking the role of Francis Dollarhyde to a new level not seen in Manhunter.
Other than the fact that this is a revamp of an oldie but goody, and the brilliant insights on the Red Dragon/Tooth Fairy, this movie should've never seen the light of day. I rate it as high as I do because the cast was just as good, (and in some cases, better) than the original.
