Review of Red Dragon (1965) by Nathan M — 11 Aug 2010
Recalling the adaptation of Thomas Harris's first novel, "Manhunter", by Michael Mann, was not supported by "solid" and "potential" components like "Silence of the Lambs", which incidentally won Best Picture Oscar, and able to bring about a phenomenal new character for Anthony Hopkins .
Metro Goldwyn Mayer, re-releasing this film under the title "Red Dragon", by bringing up Brett Ratner as the director. Although, unable to match with Jonathan Demme in the case of presents a psychological thriller, Brett Ratner able to create a dark atmosphere, and is able to build a more solid fear tension than Ridley Scott.
Long before the FBI captured Hannibal Lecter, and made it the object of a guide for agents in the FBI uncover a serial killer (as Clarice Straling), FBI Agent Will Graham asking for Lecter's help in order to reveal a murder committed by a psychopath known as the "Tooth Fairy" .
Overall, this prequel succeed to present a genius thriller, and supported by adequate acting from Edward Norton and Ralph Fiennes. Making this film still worth watching!
