Review of Red Dragon (1965) by Deb S — 07 Mar 2010
Beginning with a scene that will capture your interest right away, the basic story is almost identical to "Silence of the Lambs." Locked in a prison cell, Hannibal Lecter is enlisted by an FBI agent - Will Graham (Edward Norton) - to help catch a serial killer, known as "The Tooth Fairy," who turns out to be Hannibal's number one fan.
Lecter plays many of the same mind games that we became familiar with in the course of the earlier "Silence of the Lambs" and is as great, as you would expect him to be, as the terrifying Hannibal Lector.
Edward Norton is nothing short of compelling, as is Harvey Keitel. Ralph Fiennes plays the killer, Frances Dolarhyde and captured his mindset perfectly and is one of the more fascinating and disturbing psychos to have ever appeared in a movie.
