Review of Red Desert (1964) by Bj P — 06 Jun 2007
This was quite a good film, the pace was a tad deliberate. Not a film that I will ever see again. Vitti was excellent in her role and it was quite odd seeing Richard Harris in an italian film. I don't think that the film got its point across as well as it could have.
I suppose it was a tad pretentious as well, but so are most of Antonioni's films so you expect that. However I really liked the look of the film and it was filled with some really interesting shots, the colour scheme really aided Vitti's performance.
Music got a bit irritating at times. It also is not a film that I would recommend to many of friends, especially those who don't enjoy their cinema with a touch of masochism.
