Review of Red Dawn (2012) by Ruslan M — 03 May 2013
The original was campy fun, though based on a near-impossible premise. This one isn't nearly as campy or as fun, and based on an absolutely impossible premise. How exactly is North Korea, a country the size of Ohio going to garrison a country as big as America, much less conquer it? A country with a shortage of food, almost no fuel, and an air force dating from the Eisenhower administration? Even China has nothing like the hardware to pull something like this off, much less the desire.
All that is left is a thought experiment. IF we were SOMEHOW occupied by a cruel foreign country, what would it be like? What would I do? What could I do? What should I do? These questions are answered about as well as in the original, which is to say not very satisfactorily.
It is still an interesting thought experiment.
