Review of Red Dawn (2012) by Adam Malik M — 19 May 2014
This movie is a cold war relic which should have never been resurrected. The original made sense because America was actually under plausible threat of nuclear warfare. Of course, after the Iron Curtain had lifted America found out their opponents were composed of mostly sick & starving peasants who were at least 20 years behind technologically.
Sad thing is, had several opportunities to make itself relevant to current issues by describing the irony of America being occupied and the freedom fighters using the tactics of Iraqi insurgents. Then the marine main character who had been explaining the insurgency said that, "but this time, we are the good guys". Good job completely dashing what could have been a deep message.
