It's safe to say that I've never seen a movie quite like this. The chaotic mayhem of war sits reasonably well beside the heart-warming courage and sacrifice of family. That said, Red Dawn focuses more on emotional thrills and acting than its action or photography.
The two don't quite evenly balance out. One minute the camera is in a chase scene and you feel like you're going to throw up, next minute you're crying about a character that died. All in all, Red Dawn delivers raw situations with both a light hearted and serious tone that make for a successful (yet unfinished) remake.
