Review of Red Dawn (2012) by Jared L — 02 Jul 2014
I know it's a little late to be reviewing this now, but I think this was a fairly interesting movie. It seems like the type of thing that could have been longer, and more drawn out, but it was still a pretty cool movie.
I spent a decent amount of the movie imagining how much different the movie would be if some of the actors were characters from other movies, like Hemsworth as Thor or Hutcherson as Peeta. It made some of the movie a bit more interesting.
However, that shows that the movie did suffer to some degree. It seemed like it focused more on how a group of teenagers could handle a whole nation than it did on the fact that the United States had been invaded and attacked. It seemed more like a movie about the family of a city standing against a bad guy until the last twenty minutes when it brought the United States into the mix.
This movie definitely had its faults in story-telling, but I think it still did a good job of entertaining me. I enjoyed watching it on Netflix, and I would definitely recommend it as a rainy day movie watch.
