Review of Red Dawn (1984) by Dreux B — 22 Sep 2009

With the passing of Patrick Swayze last week, I sat down to watch this movie once more.

Now that I am older, a little wiser, I find that this movie is more Communist than it is "Anti-Communist".

Or should I say..."Maoist".

By taking the idea of a Foreign Invader (Imperialistic Views I might add, creating an empire like that), one that is vastly superior in both numbers and technology, and fighting it to a stand still with just a handful of Teenagers (All from a Small Farm Town I might add) whom employ Guerrilla style tactics.

Hmm..

Am I the only one around who sees this as how the Peoples Liberation Army got started and won the Chinese Civil War?

Regardless, while the acting is over the top at times, and special effects are at best pre 1980s, I still find that this movie is a good, entertaining Hour and a Half every time I Decide to watch it.

However, with the current state of Hollywood not being original, word is that they are currently filming a Remake of this classic 1980's Cold War Cinema. Only this time We will be fighting the Chinese..

Interesting now that I look at it with the eyes and Mind I have now...
