One of the best worst movies ever made its a bright and shining beacon of America in the 80's. The whole thing runs like one big commercial for the National Rifle Association and has me thinking about getting a gun and going off to fight the reds. Wait... the Cold War is over? Wait... it's not? There's a remake that takes place in the Detroit suburbs and its coming out this year 2010? No way!

Sure it's overtly violent, misogynistic, caucasian, cheesy, and pretty anti-anything that's not American but it's a real gem and should be taken with a sense of humor and a beer, or a few of them. Great casting, Patrick Swayze, Charlie Sheen, Jennifer, just naming a few but a great ensemble all told.

The movie is more relevant to our current psyche than previously thought. While this original version will always be preserved for future viewing pleasure, if there's one thing we know for sure: movies about anti-communism, pro gun ownership, anti-liberalism, teenage angst, and guerilla warfare are "one in a..." well, just one.
