Review of Red Dawn (1984) by Curtis P — 24 Sep 2009
A movie that was very ahead of its time, with talented actors which would go on to have major success. You could tell from the poster that Swayze was supposed to be the star of this movie, but something got lost in the formula.
His character and the one played by Charlie Sheen were apparently drawn very weakly in the script. if anything, the female characters are actually the strongest of all the protagonists. The beginnings of 80's female empowerment were, in essence, symbolized by Jennifer Grey and Lea Thompson firing automatic weapons.
