Review of Red Cliff (2008) by Minas C — 24 Feb 2010
Having seen the longer and full Part 1 version (was far too tired for Part 2), I have to bring my 4.5 stars to a 3. The film was cut quite weirdly, with lots of transitions that weren't even used to cut to a different scene.
Yes, the storyline is great and I must say I do enjoy these Chinese period pieces as I think they have a lot to show (romance, comedy, drama and action). However, I can see why John Woo considered a shorter and condensed version for the film, which I thought was more bare-able than the full length edits.
