The plot was untrue to the original story of The Battle of Red Cliff and it gets more and more derailed as the film progresses, John Woo betrays the expectations of the Chinese audience by creating the most expensive and shallow Hollywood-styled Chinese historical epic where it would only appeal to the western audiences (assuming they are all ignorant and shallow) or someone who don't really care much about the ancient history of China.
