Review of Red Cliff (2008) by Marilena G — 23 May 2010
Red Cliff was a moving movie about China's history. The movie kept audience members focused and suspenseful with action tactics. Army tactics and intelligence was definetly a key factor in the fight.
Both armies use the four elements to fight earth, wind, fire, and water. Old fashion signs where a factor also to determine the weather's outcome and utilize it. Fighting was glorified in the movei with heroic warriors fighing countless enemies at once some fighting with arrows in them.
The action scenes shown fighting techniques and moves like a dance with a sword. It was surprising that biochemical warfare was used liek the typhoid infected soldiers who were sent ot Zhou Yu. Mmany tricks were played to gain an advantage over an opponent.
This would be spies, biochemical warfare, flanks, and ambushes. This movie is something that shoudl be watched by many to get a grip on China's history and the great battles to form the country today.
This would be a equivalent to America's Civil War. The two sides had different view points on how to win a war. Tthey must know their opponent in order to predict a defense or offensive tactic. Thought was put in to chocies and trichy tactics liek gathering arrows from the enemy to have more arrows.
Alliances are shown as heroic and loyal with the different sides alliances. Simple pleasures where important to like tea was shown as relaxing and tranquil. Costumes and apperances looked real and took you back to (220-280 A.
D). Detail and rank was important liek the armor worn and the helmets that depict rank. A theme would be loyalty, courage, and forgiveness. Loyalty, being the alliances, courage to fight against all odds, and forgiveness of enemies and the cause they fought that made winners have a lose also.
