Review of RED 2 (2013) by James R — 29 May 2014
Wow this movie was really bad. Red 2 is the sequel to the film Red (2010) which itself was based on a DC comic. The film did decent and therefore spawned a sequel which should have never been green lit.
while the first film mixes laughs and action this one is just all over the place. Bruce Willis is phoning in his roles (which he seems to be doing more and more now a days), Mary-Louise Parker is downright terrible and I'm pretty sure popping pills during the film, John Malkovich actually is decent, Helen Mirren is randomly in the film (kinda just pops in and is like hey i'm back sans the storyline).
Anthony Hopkins was superb, but unfortunately he has nothing to work with here (he's part of a "twist" that is just fucking retarded). I actually enjoyed the action sequences involving Byung Hun-Lee.
Catherine Zeta-Jones is also god awful in here too. The plot is super shitty. The action is just too cheesy. Do yourself a favor and just skip this one.
