Review of RED 2 (2013) by Paul E — 04 Oct 2014
I could see where they wanted to go with this, but it just did not work for me. Watching old people shoot guns and kick butt with added humor could have been fun to see again, but everything was such a clique, from the action to the, well, action.
The love story and Bruce's character attempting to keep Mary-Louise's character from getting involved was pretty funny, one of the few things I enjoyed about the movie. Actually, probably the only thing.
The big plot twist in the movie is similar to the twist in Bruce's previous outing, A Good Day to Die Hard, and while I didn't care about that movie at that point, this movie had enough interest to make the twist much better.
Still, unnecessary explosions and all action stuff, with many, many plot holes and jumping around, ruined the movie for me.
