Review of RED 2 (2013) by Ben T — 17 Aug 2014
2010's RED was a cool film with good acting, a great mix of action and humor and at the end of the day it was a very fun movie. 3 years later we got RED 2 a fairly decent sequel with a lot of problems.
The first problem is the run time, while the first RED did have a long runtime it was well paced however this film feels like 3 hours rather than 2. The comedy is very lacking and the action has only a few good moments.
However what this film does have is a great cast. Bruce Willis is good but he looks bored, Mary Louise Parker is good also, but the stand outs are Helen Mirren, John Malkovich, Anthony Hopkins, Catherine Zeta Jones and Byung Hun Lee who was a great in the action scenes.
Apart from that the film is a bit boring and bloated but good action and acting make up for it. C+.
