Review of Red (1996) by Dave H — 23 Mar 2013
So much fun. The story ain't nothing special, with some odd pacing decisions, and while there's a few clever actions bits, they aren't exactly sustained through. But this film is ALL about the ensemble casting.
Bruce plays it refreshingly gentler than usual, balancing nicely with the kookiness of M-L P. Freeman and Dreyfuss are typically solid, but the highlight of the film is definitely Malcovich, he steals every scene he's in.
And of course Mirren - is there a sexier or classier woman over 50 in film these days? Actually, scratch that "over 50". Question still stands.
