Review of Red (1996) by Adam S — 09 Aug 2013
"Red" is a very fun romp - as an action film with an all-star pensioner cast, it definitely has much more appeal than the Expendables franchise.
Starring veterans Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich and Helen Mirren star as retired government agents, with a supporting cast that includes Mary-Louise Parker, Brian Cox and Karl Urban.
While much of the action is unrealistic (for example, Malkovich uses a rifle as a baseball bat to return an incoming grenade at one point), it is undoubtedly an enjoyable experience. Malkovich's performance in particular is a strong one, while Willis, Mirren and Freeman are true to their standard form.
A good comic book adaptation.
